Though I tend and try to get along with everybody, there are some people that you can't really get along with and there are some people that you just seem to 'click' straight away like you really enjoy their presence and you have so much to talk to with that person, because you just 'click', you know what I mean?
There are some people that you can talk everything under the sun, you joke around with them, the jokes may sound harsh to others but we do not seem to mind, we are of the same wavelength, we understand each other's feeling and at times we tend to finish each other's lines. I'm glad and quite lucky in the sense that I quite have a number of friends who I just happened to 'click' right away. ,Amazingly, it does not take years to establish this bond, there are a few incidences that I just happen to click right away with these people, we may not see each other often but everytime we meet, we have a lot to share and we just enjoy each other's company.
Quite recently, I commented to a colleague of mine that I just love my Form 3 girls, maybe because I have taught a handful of them since they were in Form One. I have watched them grow from boisterous, immature kids to a more serious and lady-like girls. I can see some of them starting to take learning more seriously this year as the have a major exam to focus on compared to the previous years I have taught them.
In fact some of them are having me for almost 3 years of their school lives, and I do enjoy being with them. We 'click' and we are just interested to know more about each other and we just love sharing stories.
And today I was pointed out why we have this kind of 'tight' relationship, according to the chinese horoscope pointed out by my students 3K's students (Kae*shini, Karish*ma and Kary*na) teachers who are born on the year of a tiger will have a good time teaching students who are born in the year of pig RFLMAO! It sounded ridiculous but I just have to agree.
These kids sometimes make me feel important the celebrity -like kind of importance (LOL!) as they are just interested to know more about me, our routine lesson is sometimes filled with 'red herring' and that makes teaching them effortless and fun. And just like life not everything is a bed of roses and just like roses there are thorns, but I take all them as a challenge and constantly reminding them to not take things easy. Although they can drive me up the wall at times, they are actually fine girls who are capable of doing great things but more often that not they have not able to set their priorities right.
I really hope these girl will strive harder in their studies and will always remember their teachers. I know I have a lot of shortcoming and may not be the best teacher anyone can wish for but I believe each of my student has potential to achieve great success and I always pray for the success of my girls. Last but no least 'nagging teachers are caring teachers', remember that!
NB- This batch of students are the ones responsible in introducing me to the Twillight saga and got me hooked to it 2 years ago (thanks to Han*nna Suhaila), not only that they introduced me to the Night World series too, they are the ones who made me continue blogging after the in-house training that I attended (Angela Chong and the gang in 1B 2008), they are the people who made me read the novel P.S. I Love You and My Sister's Keeper and they are the ones who would tell me what movies or dvds worth watching.

Stop Complaining, Start Contributing!
This post may offend some of my readers but I'm just merely stating the truth, if you're not happy please do not bother to read on and go visit other blogs that make you happy.
The week after the final-year exam, has been really stressful and hectic for us, the marking of papers and the preparation of the Charity Dinner this coming Friday night.
I'm proud to say, I'm a teacher of this school and usually the impression that I get when I say am a teacher of this school, that I'm lucky as it is an elite school where you can find all the rich people's and VIPs children here. They are not wrong but we don't get things that easy here as sadly it is difficult to get contributions from all these people.
I'm aware being a teacher you are bound to shoulder all kinds of responsibilities, and I don't intend to complain here, I do not mind at all but my heart is a bit heart-broken when all the effort done, do not really get the support from the students and their parents themselves.
Sometimes, I think to myself is it worth all the sacrifices made, though most of teachers only have the best interest of the students in their mind but my heart keeps questioning, is it all worth it when some of the students themselves do not care a hoot of what the school is doing for them?
Since we became the cluster school, especially this year,I believe the school has done so much to serve and to cater for the students needs, but what do we get in return? I can tell you this, not much.
I had to stay back whole of this week for the orchestra practices for the charity dinner. I came on Sunday too. We prepared new blouses for the girls, we prepared permission letters, we prepare working papers, we need to prepare food for them, we hired a bus, we are hiring the conductors, we have to pay arrangement for the songs, we are paying the vocal teacher on top of our core work which is teaching and all these done so that the girls will get the chance to play and showcase their talent for the Queen in Nikko Hotel. It's a big event and it is done to upgrade all the facilities that we have in school, we are trying to be 'the school of the future' and what we want in return is to get the support from the parents to make this a reality by contributing RM200 per seat for the dinner in the name of charity.
The sad thing is that some of the parents are not even aware of this BIG event as they were not told by their children though we have distributed the letter for all the parents and we even published it in our website. We got such poor response and some students can even say the are facing 'financial crisis'? FINANCIAL CRISIS? Mind you, these words blurted out came from the students who have drivers to take them home, whose parents car are dwarfing all the teachers' car, they carry handphones that are more expensive and sophisticated than mine, who wear watches which cost hundreds of ringgit, who are willing to pay hundreds of ringgit worth of ticket concert, who go for holiday overseas annually, whose parents are willing to buy Guitar Hero, PS2, PSP and they are not willing to fork out RM200 for the school. This event is all done for the benefits of the students, definitely not us the teachers, as to prepare such big event we are bogged down with just more work.
It is just sad to see this whole scenario happening in an environment where majority of the students come from such affluent and privilege families where we have to beg them to contribute for the school. It is just sad what more with what the school has done for the students 'the Musical Night, Mantap Minda, Majlis Restu, Graduation Night' just to name a few, and the only thing that we often received is the rising number of complaints from the students and the parents. So if you're not willing to contribute, please stop complaining.
So who can we blame when the students have such selfish act?
Ask not what the school can do for you but what you can do for the school.
P/S- I remember for the years I was in that school, I had been contributing to build-up of the surau, I did not get to enjoy the privilege then but it did not stop me contributing for the school.

Today was fun
Well today was the performance for the Toyota Eco Youth, the orchestra members gathered in the hall as early as 7.30 am, setting up the platforms, chairs, music stands and the instruments. The sound system people were punctual, they arrived 7.45 on the dot, mike 'ing', plug in and what not. Encik Radzali our music instructor was on time too, we did the sound check, practiced with the choir group and our principal looked contented.
I ordered 10 boxes of pizza, we ate our lunch in the school canteen, it was fun. The girls got ready at around 1.30 pm, we performed at around 3.00 pm and as usual they were excellent. I'm so proud of them and the thought that this may be the last performance for the Form fives saddened me as they have been in the orchestra throughout their school lives and we have established some special bonds together, seeing them grow right in front of my eyes from small, whining immature girls to tall, sweet, mature ladies made me feel that I'll miss them once they leave school.
Anyway, while waiting for tea, some of the orchestra members and the choir girls sat with me at the gazebo beside the hall and this was where the fun starts. I discovered many unusual and funny things about my students for example how one of my form fives actually has this major crush on our music instructor, I somehow could sense it years ago but had brushed it away, but today just confirmed everything and looking at her blushing when we were talking about him was funny. And the fact that she was not the only one and they were other girls too who have major crush on him made it even funnier. Just for the record, my music instructor is not unfortunate looking and he has some good husband materials and the fact that he's passionate in his music especially when he's conducting makes him look really awesome, i tell you.
So being in a all girls school, where we are deprived from having many of these species in our school, I somehow could understand their feeling, the fact they went gugu gaga over him and other male trainee teachers was hilarious. What I'm amazed was the fact they disguise their feelings, looking uninterested when these people were talking to them, how they rolled their eyes when these guys gave lame jokes but when in actual fact, they were intoxicated with their behaviour. Funny!
The whole event ended at 5.30 pm, I was tired but I couldn't stop smiling, these girls just made my day.

Frustration
I was so frustrated today with one of my English classes students. It is frustrating when the students do not take things seriously. Such an ample time was given for them to prepare something that they have learnt, watch and study. But they came out with such crap. I didn't bother to stay on because I just couldn't comprehend what they were trying to do.
They do not feel the importance of learning at all and that's what makes me feel sad. They only just want to be playful and doing fun things. I'd told them too many times that this oral marks will be carried forward until they are in Form 3 and the result of this oral will appear in the PMR slip. But did they care? NO!!!
I want to help them by given them ample time to practise, so they can get good marks for their oral, furthermore the 2 weeks that I couldn't make it to class i've told them to practise their oral, but did they heed my advice and take it seriously? NO!!!!
They just love wasting time and doing nonsense, making noise in the classroom and when the real day comes, they come up with such lame excuses, nobody wanted to stay back because they have tuitions, no transport etc etc. It is so frustrating because they did not put the time when I wasn't around into good use.
I do not have all the time in the world, I have sylabus to finish, books to mark and other classes to teach and I have a life too. You cannot just expect me to give in by expecting me to stay back just to watch the play which I know not worth my time.
I have the power to let them fail their oral, but would I want to do that? NO!!!! But I'm done nagging and talking, if you want good marks for your oral you know what you are supposed to do. I'm just so fed-up and mad with this kind of behaviour as this is not the first time it's happening and I'm beginning to sound like an old record saying the same thing over and over again.
So please have respect for others.

Yay! We did it!
The school musical drama is finally over after 6 months of gruelling preparation. The last 2 weeks had been crazy. We had an intensive practises. The first 9 days camping in the school hall for 6-7 hours was no joke and the last 3 days in the Civic Centre itself too was really really tiring. Basically the last 3 days in the Civic Centre we literally did not get to see daylight unless you step outside of the auditorium. We arrived at 8.00 am and going home around 6-7 pm and the day itself we finally got to go home at around 12.30 am. But it was worth it.
The show turned out to be a huge success with one thousand people watching. THe matinee show we had around 400 people mainly school students and the night show more than 600 people watching. Not bad for a first timer in doing this, don't you think?
Not only that, so far, we have been getting a lot of positive comments from the audience, that was the real icing on the cake.
But to conduct such a drama in this large scale was no joke but all the hard work paid off. Now I can sigh a great relief and hope to get better sleeps. Things were crazy for the last 2 weeks, most of us were deprived from getting a good slumber and not only that we had to endure the negative vibes surrounded us. We pulled it through and am glad. So those of you who just had to give your sarcastic remarks about the whole production, eat your heart out because we were GREAT and you know it! So who's having the last laugh now, hah! Tell me.
So to those of you who came to watch the drama yesterday. Thank you for all your support. To my orchestra members, they said you guys were flawless and am so proud. Thank you again. Yay, people. We did it!

The Dancing Queens
So everybody, this is the video you guys been waiting for. Enjoy!
We really let ourselves loose and we had a lot of fun.
To all my students, you guys were a group of great and loud supporters. Thank you for the overwhelming cheer and applause.
At the backstage, nervous, getting ready to rock the floor. ahak ahak.
And my dear students, thank you for the lovely gifts, cards, cupcakes, muffin, cookies and chocolates. Love them all. The munchies were gone in a jiffy basically had to fight with the kids. So I get only to taste some and they were yummy and looking at the crumbs left on the floor, I think my kids agree with me too that my girls can bake and good at it. So thank you from the very bottom of my heart for being thoughtful and putting the effort in giving, finding me the gifts. I appreciate it. Thank you. <

Our school Rocks!!!!
Students of Sri Aman, you all should be proud of your alma mater. It is the most happening school in Selangor, don't you agree? This year we have appeared in the TV3 news, newspapers, EduwebTV and soon will be appearing in Bang Bang Boom and Disney Channel.
The Hannah Montana Rock with Sheila today was awesome, she was talented and we have a bunch of talented school girls too. I had fun and so did my kids.
I'm not sure about you but I'm sure proud to proclaim that I'm a teacher of Sri Aman, you all are so lucky that you are students of this school as a lot of interesting things are done here in this school for the benefit of the students. Hence, I reckon that you prove yourself worthy to be a student of this school and make us more proud of your achievement. All the best to all of you and good luck in your future undertaking.
We the teachers here will always stand by you and definitely support you from the back.

It Is IMPORTANT to be NICE!
It's nice to be important but it is MORE important to be nice.
The Geography Quiz held in the school gallery today, showed me the true colours of my students. The so called 'elite' class behaved in such a way that had me flummoxed. In the quest to get marks for the class, the students can be too agressive that got me almost injured. The girls were practically snatching the microphone without thinking the safety of others. Tsk! tsk! tsk! This kind of behaviour had definitely changed my perception towards you guys.
The aim of this quiz is to instil that learning takes place in a fun and a spontaneous way, but, when we had people that were too 'kiasu', the game no longer became fun. What is so great of getting high marks when you leave such a bad impression of yourself? Talk about first class facility but third class mentality.
Do we teachers have to remind you to be nice every time? Nagging can be tiring you know, and it is no fun especially when you have to nag to 6 other classes of thirty odd students. You people come from a girls school, a cluster school and many of you have parents who are professional but you guys definitely do not behave like one.
As teachers, of course we are happy to have clever girls but what is the use of being clever when people talk more of your rowdy behaviour? We teachers appreciate more of our polite and obedient students. These students may not be clever but there are the ones that we remember to this date.
I know it is nice to be important but it is more important to be nice. Please remember that, as we Malaysians are slowly lacking in this. Please bear in mind too that society tends to associate a child behaviour to his or her upbringing at home. So please do not tarnish your parents name and the school name. Take care.

We didn't win, again!
Today was the district level choral speaking competition, and as mentioned in the title we didn't win again! I'm not sure what my feeling is now, it's a mixture of slight frustration, disappointment and confusion but I feel bad for the girls. I believe the judging this year is better than last year but there are somethings that I just don't get it.
I'm proud that we fought well as we abided to the rules, we met the time limit, the girls were animated, their pronunciation and enunciation were clear, the material was relevant but we didn't win. I'm aware of the few minor glitches here and there but somebody please tell me where or which part that the judges were not happy with!! It was clearly stated in the rules and regulations that hand movements is not allowed, singing is definitely a no-no. We had none of those, and we are among the 3 schools which met the time limit, the rest 7 schools went less than the minimum requirement time. Not to mention, the winner on the other hand had hand movements and one of the top three schools sang. So somebody please please please tell me, where we went wrong so we can improve next year. When we did ask the judges, they just said oh you guys just missed by a few marks only. Excuse me, like how many marks? Can they just say what position we are in? It's not that we're going to make an issue out of it as we also know that the judges decison is final.
Sometimes, I just feel that, there is just no point taking part in this kind of competition, we will just never win just because we come from Sri Aman. No matter how much effort we put in or how good the girls are, the judges just feel that we don't deserve to win just because they believe we are privilleged. Hello! This thing doesn't actually come easy for us too you know. The teachers and the students had to sacrifice their time and energy practising. We sacrificed our holidays too!!!
Well, who am I to complain, just a small fry in this area but it is good to know that the standard of the choral speaking has improved tremendously. I believe the judges had quite a hard time in choosing the winners. I just wish they were more consistent in their judging. I would love to give credit to Taman Dato Harun though, they were good, their level has really shoot up. They just have to work a bit more in their diction. They were unison and their movements were sharp. The trainers (teachers) were unhappy they lost because they took the time and effort getting the students to practise (real hard), they called up the PPD and the trainer from the last year's winning team just to get a clear picture of the rules and regulations. They were clearly disappointed as the winners didn't actually follow the rules.
But girls, I'm really proud of you! You guys were talented, animated and witty, it just not our luck, again (and again)! They judges may not think that we were good but other teachers from other schools thought that we should at least got no. 3. So there's nothing to be ashamed about. Just stand tall!

But girls, I'm really proud of you! You guys were talented, animated and witty, it just not our luck, again (and again)! They judges may not think that we were good but other teachers from other schools thought that we should at least got no. 3. So there's nothing to be ashamed about. Just stand tall!
